One-to-One With Relaxayvoo Founder Constance Laperche
Meet Constance Laperche, creative director of Relaxayvoo, a pared-back and luxurious skincare brand made in London. Relaxayvoo grew out of two Parisians sharing a connection over living the bustling London life and looking for natural solutions to soften the effects of aging. A multitasker and busy mom, Constance talks about starting a business, launching a new product and how she takes care of herself.
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF TO THE SARKA BOTANICALS COMMUNITY. WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
I grew up in Paris and I have been living in London for the last 20 years. I have fallen in love with this city. Now I consider myself a Londoner. I am the creative director of Relaxayvoo, my own skincare / lifestyle brand.
WHAT DROVE YOU TO START YOUR OWN BRAND?
Curiosity and a relentless appetite to learn new things. I have been a freelancer in the film advertising industry. Keen to push the creative side further I wanted to develop my own all natural lifestyle/skincare brand ‘Relaxayvoo’ in harmony with my passion for the power of scent and all things natural. A place for the Mind, Body and Skin.
YOU RECENTLY LAUNCHED A NEW PRODUCT. WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION FOR IT?
We started Relaxayvoo with two face oils, Renew and Protect, our day and night oils. Both products are highly regenerative with active ingredients such as prickly pear seed oil and rose otto essential oil.
Many of our customers asked if our oils were suitable for younger skin. We decided to develop a product specially for this age group. Relaxayvoo ‘Balance’ launched recently and has had amazing feedback. ‘Balance’ provides an everyday boost for younger skin.
We have chosen specific oils such as rosehip and grapeseed, to repair and fortify the skin's barrier whilst essential oils such as tea tree supports the skin’s natural process to heal and restore. With a comforting scent of ‘green’ this daily routine helps keep the skin’s 'Balance'.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING A BUSINESS?
Trust your instinct, surround yourself well with encouraging people, and perhaps keep your day job until you are on your feet and finally ready to let go and thrive.
IF YOU COULD TIME TRAVEL AND GIVE ADVICE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?
All the bumps on the road just position you for better decisions. Hindsight shows us to trust the process as we learn along the way. So try and release some of that pressure to get everything right and enjoy the journey.
WHAT'S YOUR APPROACH TO AGING AND HOW HAS THAT CHANGED OVER THE YEARS?
I realised I was ageing when I started reading at arms length! It’s one of life’s inevitable processes so let’s make the most of this phase, embrace it and do as much as possible, beautifully.
There are also good things that come with getting older…experience, wisdom and the freedom to say ‘yes’, ‘no’ or ‘excuse my French!’.
HOW DO YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF? WHAT'S YOUR APPROACH TO HEALTHY LIVING?
I have a tendency to try and squeeze 48 hours into 24! I will probably be buried with a ‘to do’ list so remind myself to slow down and appreciate. We all recognise the benefits of eating well, exercising, and spending time in nature to sustain our mental health.
Sleep is sacred to me and spending time with those I love is something that recharges me and it’s something I can’t do without. Work now needs to fit round life. If we live well we work better.
TELL US ABOUT SKINCARE RITUALS YOU LOVE
I need a routine that won’t require much of my time, something simple I know I can rely on, hence I developed my own face oils. At the moment I am working on body and bath oils to complement them.
I do love Dr. Hauschka hand cream. I love a good massage. Alexandra Soveral in London has treatments that are divine. I also have a great acupuncturist. This is a real treat for me.
HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR MIND YOUTHFUL AND HEALTHY?
We are spoiled with museums in central London. I enjoy going near closing time to appreciate the quiet.
I need fresh air and a regular dose of nature. I am lucky to live near a huge park so long daily walks with my dog are a must and a run a least once a week…An prolonged escape to the Greek islands with extended family is also high on the list.
WHEN DO YOU FEEL MOST BEAUTIFUL?
When I don’t need to be a tailored someone for anyone or everyone, when I am relaxed and totally myself.
